Local rim repair across Southern Maryland

Drivers from Leonardtown to La Plata have the same problem: a curbed, cracked, or bent alloy, and a dealer quote of $400 to $800 for a replacement. Our two shops, Waldorf for Charles County and California, MD for St. Mary's and Calvert, repair that wheel for a fraction of replacement.

Everything happens in-house: TIG welding, straightening to measured spec, and refinishing matched to the factory look. If the car cannot sit, we can often pull just the wheel, and some customers simply ship the wheel to us.

How we repair an alloy wheel

Every wheel gets the same three-stage, in-house process. No wheel leaves until it measures true and matches its mates.

  1. Alloy wheel measured with a dial gauge on the bench

    Assess and measure

The wheel comes off and onto the bench. Every crack, gouge, and bend is mapped, and runout is measured with a dial gauge. This determines what the wheel needs and what it honestly costs.

  2. TIG welding a crack on an alloy wheel barrel

    Weld and straighten

Cracks are ground out and TIG-welded with aluminum filler; bends are worked back true on the straightening rig under controlled heat and pressure, checked against the gauge.

  3. Alloy wheel being refinished in the booth

    Refinish and match

The repair is blended and the wheel refinished to the factory look, silver, gunmetal, or machined face, so it does not stand out from the other three.

What is rim repair and why should I care?

Alloy wheels are lighter and handle better than steel, which is why nearly every modern vehicle rides on them. The trade-off is brittleness: potholes crack them, curbs gouge them, and road salt eats their finish. Left alone, each kind of damage spreads.

Proper rim repair restores the wheel structurally and cosmetically: cracks welded, bends trued against a gauge, finish rebuilt and sealed. A patched-looking wheel hurts a sale; a properly repaired one is invisible.

Southern Maryland wheel repair FAQs

Which areas do you serve?

All of Charles, St. Mary's, and Calvert Counties through the Waldorf and California, MD shops, with town pages for Waldorf, La Plata, Leonardtown, Lexington Park, and more. Wheels can also be shipped to either shop.

Can I just bring the wheel instead of the car?

Absolutely. Many customers drop off only the wheel, and some ship them in. We can also often pull the wheel here and keep your car drivable while we work.

How fast can a wheel be turned around?

Most repairs run one to three days. Tell us if you are in a pinch; same-week scheduling is normal and we will give you a realistic date up front.

Is a repaired wheel as strong as before?

A properly welded and straightened alloy, measured back to spec, returns to full service. When damage is beyond safe repair, such as a crack through a spoke, we tell you straight and help you source a replacement.
